Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis is a technique whereby a person is brought into an extremely relaxed state of consciousness. Psychologists call this the “alpha state” after the type of brainwaves that are produced when this occurs. This state is often described as very much like the period between waking and sleeping, when we are just drifting off at night or just beginning to rouse in the morning. A Hypnotherapist will be able to gain access to your subconscious mind when you are in the hypnotic state, and will be able to modify or change your mental and emotional habits.
Is Hypnosis Safe?
Yes, completely safe. Hypnosis is a 100% natural state; It's an entirely natural state; every time you get absorbed in a book or a TV programme you are in trance. It is not possible to become stuck in trance, as you are always in control, although you may feel so comfortable that you may decide to remain in trance a little while longer. No one can stay in trance indefinitely; even if the therapist stopped talking for a while, your bodily functions would eventually arouse you. The worst thing that can happen is that you may become too comfortable and fall asleep!
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Yes,provided you allow youself to be hypnotised almost everyone can be hypnotised. However nobody can be hypnotised against their will, so an individual cannot be hypnotised if they choose not to be.
Will I be lose control of what is happening?
Hypnotherapy is not a passive experience - it is not something that the therapist does to you. It is more like a partnership, with the therapist guiding yout to focus on your internal world and access the huge store of resources held in your subconscious mind. You remain fully in control and will be able to come out of trance at any time you choose. You will not be made to do or say anything against your will, or give away any secrets. You will only be asked for sufficient information to enable the therapist to help you with your current problem.
